4 x 4, Patti-Style

I love lists, so an email from the Declare Conference organizers with an invitation  to participate in a 4 x 4 post made my day!

4 Things About Me

  • I am very interested in starting a business selling mixed-media word art -- on canvas and on wood.

  • I'm an introvert who loves to be around people.

  • I would love to quit my job and live full-time in a camper, moving on as the mood strikes.

  • I'm a water-person who longs to live either on the beach or on a large lake.

4 of My Endearing Quirks

  • When I sneeze, I sound like a cat (according to my family :))

  • I have no fashion sense (I think it's endearing, but I'm pretty sure I often embarrass my daughter :)).

  • I am awfully uncoordinated. Back when Jane Fonda-type aerobics were so popular, everyone would be clapping, stepping, and hopping, but I would be hopping, clapping, and stepping. You should see me in a Rhumba class!

  • I sing with wild abandon, especially to oldies and contemporary Christian music. Well, I think it's endearing; nobody has actually expressed that to me. ;)

4 Things About My Blog & Writing

  • I've been spending quite a bit of time lately pondering the direction I want to go with my blog.

  • Two books are rattling around in my head.

  • I love long sentences -- complete with dashes; I also like to use fragments from time to time. Like this!

  • I try to be honest and transparent when I blog, but sometimes that's pretty scary.

4 of My Favorite Things

  • They're people, not things, but I can't *not* put  my son and daughter here. Everything and everybody else are a distant, distant 2nd.

  • My favorite food is still-hot chocolate pudding.

  • I love the NFL and watching games on television in my jammies on Monday night, Thursday night, and from noon to bedtime on Sunday.

  • My favorite vacation spot is The Great Smoky Mountains.

What about you? Please respond with the same 4 x 4 about you!

  13. Patti – me too! I love long sentences with a variety of punctuation...so fun to pal with words and try to write them, sounding like I would say them. Short ones. Those are great too!

Thank you for stopping by my blog already. I hope I get to sing next to you so I can sing really loud and not be heard! :)

  15. Hi Patti! Good to get acquainted with you, fellow Missourian. Your post made me LOL a few times and I dig that about you. I had to laugh a little when you mentioned how much you love long sentences. I do, too. But I try so hard to make sure I insert a lot of short sentences that I often look back and think "man, I have way too many short sentences."

    Can't win. ;)

And the Smokey Mountains are on my list to visit! You'll have to tell me where to stay.

See you next week at Declare!

  16. I too have no coordination and yes a home on the ocean would be dreamy.

It was fun visiting your blog and learning a bit about you. I look forward to personally meeting you in a few short days.

    Blessings,

  17. Exactly (what you said about words), Britta! I teach expository writing, and I try to convey to my students -- college students who just want the 3 hours of credit for the most part -- my love for words. I use the phrase "manipulate and play with", but I love your term "pal with" much better. May I steal it?

I'd love for you to sit by me, but I have to confess that I only sing loud in the car and when I'm home alone. In a group, I dial it down. lol

  18. Thanks for popping in, Emily! I have to confess I'm a neophyte word artist -- I'd be embarrassed to talk about what I'm doing after seeing your work. I just want to soak up your knowledge. :)

  19. I loved this prompt because so much of what I write on my blog is serious, even somber. I'm actually trying to figure out how to mix in more humor (well, what I consider humor) without it being jarring or not really fitting. So much to learn and absorb next week -- I can't wait!

  20. Hi, Cherie. Well, when I win the megamillions and buy my little cottage on the beach, you are more than welcome to come for a visit and stay as long as you want. However, since I can't remember the last time I bought a lottery ticket of any kind, you might want to hold off on packing the swimsuit and sunscreen. :) See you next week!

  21. I will be singing loudly with you! Sometimes, I've been called a window washer worshipper. Interestingly, I grew up without EVER raising hands and it took years to get there. Looking forward to meeting you!

  22. NFL - Favorite team or just all football? You know you coming to Dallas so answer carefully? I've lived here 5 years and still call The Bears my team.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'll watch any team in a pinch, but my 2 favorite teams are the Rams (have to root for the hometown guys) and Peyton Manning's. lol The Bears? Does that mean you're a {shudder} Cubbies fan, too? lol (this Cardinal fan couldn't resist)

As for the Cowboys, I was a huge fan -- and I mean huge, which is not a popular thing to be when you live in Missouri lol -- until Jones' disrespectful treatment of Landry. As long as Jones has anything to do with the team . . . not a fan. Sorry! :)

  24. Good to know! I love sentence fragments too. They add a nice sound to my writing as I read it in my head. :)

  25. So nice to learn more about you, Patti. Looking forward to meeting you at Declare. I love fragments too.

  26. I've never heard the term "window washer worshipper", Jolene -- I love it!

  27. Oh how I wish I could remember the name of the texts that were used in one of my grad courses. The authors' of both focused on writing style and spent quite a bit of time on the appropriateness of breaking the rules for effect. So many times in class I did a mental fist pump. lol
